I found my home in Essays.ph

I found my home in Essays.ph

For those who aren’t yet aware, I’ve already been doing Freelance work online since around 2005. Working online was a tough decision I had to make because freelancing then wasn’t yet that popular and back then there were still too many bogus clients since trustworthy freelance platforms - like Essays.ph - didn’t exist yet. Though it was hard at first, I had no other choice because I just wouldn’t get hired anywhere. (Yup, that’s what always happens after going to college.) I didn’t want to work as a fast-food crew so I decided to just stick with doing freelance work online. I focused on being a freelance writer. It’s what I enjoyed doing most - writing.

The very first projects I had back then were academic papers. I never tried data entry because most scams - based on my anxious scam researches online - came from that department. On the other hand, what I did find out was that the very “company” I was working for was also a fraud. They did pay me, and paid me on time, but I read a reliable list of scam sites online and the company was listed. The company’s website - the URL of which was kept secret from us staff - actually claimed on their site that their essay/ acad. paper writers are native English speakers experts in their fields or topics (MA and PhD holders). I am not a native English speaker and I’m not an MA or PhD holder, LOL. And alas, I also found out how much the company was actually selling our papers for - like $20/ $30/ $50. The writers, including me, only received a miniscule of their profits - $2/ $3/ $5. It was so sad to find out I was an exploited Filipino writer. (BTW I also repulsed at the idea that students wouldn’t write their own assignments and just order papers from these kinds of websites. I was disgusted.)

So I left the academic papers field and tried web content writing. Ah, web content writing. I liked seeing my articles published online, though not under my name. I was a ghost writer. I found a site, much like Essays.ph (I already forgot the name) and they actually paid their writers. So, I was thankful it was not a scam but my only regret was they paid minimally, and there aren’t assignments always, or rather, there were assignments only sometimes, ouch. Imagine dry spells for 30 days straight. How am I supposed to live on that? Once again, I left work there - ‘coz there’s virtually no work there and I tried looking for similar sites. I did find a freelancers website this time. A platform where people can sign up either as an outsourcing client or a freelancer. A client would post his project and freelancers would “bid” or apply for the project. Competition was tough because you had to stand out from the rest of the applicants but the pay was good. My only problem was (I always seem to have problems with certain sites) - at times I wouldn’t get any projects at all and at times I would get too many all at the same time I almost couldn’t handle it. It drove me nuts! I thought the whole idea behind working freelance online was to be able to work at your own pace...

I did find an Australian client though whom I was lucky to have worked with for more than one year (1 ½ years actually) and he paid me handsomely (by ‘handsomely’ I mean I was getting paid like a call center agent but only, I worked  4-6 hours a day :-P Sad to say, some contracts just have to end - i.e. because the client wanted to shift industries - so okay, I was back to free-floating.

I guess God is really good to me because every time a door closes, he opens another one. Every time I left a company or a client, I found a new one - and always a better one to boot. I found Essays.ph. I can say that I finally found my home. EPH is not just a company that employs freelance writers; it’s a (proudly) Filipino owned company - with an actual office (in Makati). There are assignments almost 100% of the time. The pay is considerable, and finally, I am part of a family. Essays.ph isn’t just a company; it’s a community, a hang-out, and a training ground for writers. I have never felt so happy I never have to work alone anymore and I never have to struggle. I may not become a millionaire in here, but do you think that is what 1) freelance/ 2) writers like me are after? :-)

I’m happy I found my home! - annamae38

Essays.ph – She’s What I’ve Been Looking for— and Much More

Here’s a review story of how I met Essays.ph… I’ve started working as a freelance online writer since 2005. Yes, it’s already been 7 years since I started writing for clients on the internet. I don’t have any degree in Journalism or English but here I am, writing my butt off for some money :-P I can’t say I’m particularly good at writing that’s why I considered doing it- I just had to do it! Money is such a great motivation *Sigh*, besides, my best subject in elementary and high-school was English and my dad would always always advise me to get a job (I think) I’m good at. So grab the writing job- even if I only have the most average skill in writing :-P

Along the way, I got to improve my skill- that’s the best part. He*k who wouldn’t learn within a span of 7-years writing? I also developed a deeper love and more personal connection with my now boyfriend of 7 years, Writing…

Wait. 7 years? Honestly, we should get married. In fact last year, Writing and I almost tied the knot. For about one-and-half years of working full-time for an Australian client, Writing and I had already been earning 16K php monthly. We started only with 10K as base salary, writing 4 x 400 articles per day (Mondays to Fridays) until I got the sweetest proposal ever, promotion, a girl’s best-friend. 16Karats per month, I was right then and there so ready to commit my entire life to doing nothing else but bask in the sun with my guy, Writing. But of course, the marriage didn’t happen. Writing and I were supposed to get married with a new contract last January but unfortunately, I got laid off, all of a sudden. Everybody got laid off. The Aussie boss just disappeared, *Poof!* (I hope he’s still alive though.)

But anyways, how could I marry without a job??? Writing and I struggled. We were back to zero. The only thing that kept us alive was our pair of breeder dogs >_<… I need to get a new grip.

I took every job online I could find, but scam here and there, scam everywhere. (Hint: the theme of this blog.) And not everyday there’s a project, not every day there’s cash :-(

… It’s quite ironic though because all these time when what I’ve been needing is money, I realized that what I’ve been wanting so bad was a company… some stability…

Writers’ Best-friend, Essays.ph

In our seemingly never-ending search for a place to live in, one day, Writing and I met someone... a girl of great class and stature. Her name is Essays.ph; But she likes to be called EPH. She also works in the world wide web. We quite have a lot of things in common, for instance she also loves to eat keywords and SEO and one of her favorite hobbies is proofreading. (We’re both grammarphobes!) She always gives me gigs and I always visit her forums... In just a span of a few months, we’ve instantly become best-friends :-) And with our great new team-up, we always get to have some cash and do a job we so love…

I can only guess what will happen next with our dear friendship. All I know is that I’m happy right now with my new-found friend (with the support of my fiancĂ© of course, Writing)… Money is really not everything. I have found my home…

Of course in the near-future I will still surely plan a wedding. And I like to think it will be a grand one- because someone is here already eagerly helping… :-) Guess who I want to be my maid-of-honor… Essays.ph of course ;-)
